Volunteers are at the heart of Jefferson Avenue Community Garden. Every garden bed, pathway, pollinator habitat, and community gathering reflects the generosity, time, and talents of neighbors who believe in creating a greener, healthier, and more connected community. Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or throughout the year, your contributions help our garden, and our community, thrive. Volunteering at JACG is an opportunity to give back while enjoying the outdoors, learning new skills, and meeting neighbors who share a passion for community and environmental stewardship.
Every volunteer hour helps strengthen JACG and the community it serves. Whether you're lending a hand for a single workday or volunteering throughout the year, your time and talents make a meaningful difference. Together, volunteers help create and maintain a welcoming public green space, support sustainable gardening practices, and protect the pollinators and wildlife that call the garden home. Beyond caring for the land, volunteers build friendships, strengthen neighborhood connections, and create opportunities for learning and service. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, helps preserve JJACG as a vibrant community resource for current and future generations.
Volunteer Opportunities
Help maintain common areas, pathways, pollinator gardens, compost systems, and shared spaces that keep the garden beautiful and welcoming. Support native plant and pollinator gardens, rainwater conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
Assist with workdays, educational programs, seasonal celebrations, and neighborhood events. Join improvement projects such as constructing raised beds, repairing fences, painting structures, or installing new garden features
Not every volunteer opportunity requires getting your hand dirty digging in the soil. Help with communications, fundraising, grant writing, photography, social media, graphic design, committee work, or administrative support.
Everyone is welcome, and no gardening experience is required. Whether you're volunteering as an individual, with your family, as part of a student or Scout group, through a corporate service project, with a neighborhood organization, or to complete community service hours, there's a place for you at JACG.
Volunteer events and activities are a wonderful way to connect with neighbors while making a meaningful impact on JACG. Whether you're attending your first workday or returning as a regular volunteer, you'll have opportunities to learn new gardening skills, complete community service hours, and help improve and beautify the garden. Along the way, you'll build relationships, enjoy time outdoors, and experience the satisfaction of working together to create a thriving community space.
Every volunteer brings unique talents and perspectives that help our garden flourish. Whether you enjoy working with your hands, organizing events, sharing your professional skills, or simply lending a helping hand where it's needed most, your contribution is valued and appreciated.
